IATUL Directors' Summit
26 Sep 2017, 10:47:25On 25-27 March, 2017, a forum was held on the “Directors' Summit on Strategic Library Management in Emerging Countries" which was hosted by the International Association of University Libraries (IATUL), Cambodian Library Associations and PaññÄsÄstra University of Cambodia.
The forum took place from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm for three days which was attended by Dr. Sam Ang Sam, Chancellor of PaññÄsÄstra University of Cambodia. Reiner Kallenborn, IATUL President, Dr. Gwen Ebbett , Vice President of IATUL, Ms. Mao Kolap, Vice President of Cambodian Librarian Associations and Documentalists, Dr. Elisha Chiware, Dr. Frédéric Brodkom, Dr. Gulcin Cribb, and over 50 librarians from different libraries in Cambodia. The forum focused on 6 topics:
1) Fundamental Infrastructure – Desire and Reality
2) Librarians’ Skills and Human Resources Management
3) Outreach and Funding
4) Strategy and Alignment
5) Service Development
6) Synergy – Networking Structures and Knowledge Transfer.
The forum ended with the tour of the RUPP Library, PUC Main Library, Royal Palace and National Museum. This forum was very significant for the librarians as they could network and mutually learn about the potential and good practices of librarianship skills.
